Social skate and Community Gathering with Gippsland Pride

Event Registration

Gippsland Pride Initiative is bringing Wear it Purple Day to Moe this year, and we would love you to be part of it. This is an all ages, all weather event, a social skate for anyone keen to get out on the rink, and just as much an opportunity to connect for anyone looking for a meaningful day out for Wear it Purple Day. You don't need to get on wheels to have a good time either. It's a significant venue with plenty of space, and there's still things to do off the rink if skating isn't your jam. Whether you're a parent looking for an affirming, supportive and fun day out for the family, our beloved community seeking an excuse to relive their glory roller skating days and have a spin with friends, a young person looking for resources, opportunities and connections, or a Forever Rainbow (over 50 folks) up for a skate, a cuppa, or both, we hope you'll join us. Join us at Wheelz World, Stadium 34, one of the only skating rinks still operating in Victoria and a genuinely world class venue right here in Gippsland.

Jimpa Film Screening

Event Registration

"Jimpa" is an uplifting multi-generational family story.

Filmmaker Hannah (Olivia Colman) takes her teenager Frances (Aud Mason-Hyde) to Amsterdam, to visit their grandfather – lovingly known as “Jimpa” (John Lithgow). But Frances’ desire to stay with Jimpa for a year abroad means Hannah is forced to reconsider her beliefs about parenting and finally confront old stories about the past.

Funny, accessible, full of sadness and joy, and with a wonderful multi-generational cast, Jimpa is a celebration of LGBTQ+ culture. It brings a queer family to screen, taking a nuanced look at just how much has changed in in terms of social expectation and our understanding of family over three generations.

Colourful Queer Futures - Wear it Purple Day Panel

Event Registration

This panel brings together LGBTIQA+ community members who are actively building the future they once couldn't see for themselves. At the centre of that story is ballroom culture: a community that created its own world, its own language, and its own future when the mainstream refused to make space. From the ballroom floor to advocacy, art, and beyond, our panellists will share what it means to imagine a queer future and then go and build it. The event asks one simple question: What does your queer future look like? Join us at the Victorian Pride Centre this August for an honest, celebratory, and community-led conversation about where we've come from and where we're headed. Because every young LGBTIQA+ person deserves to see their future clearly. This event is presented in partnership with Endeavour Group.
