Our Team
Wear It Purple is led by a passionate community of volunteers, young people and leaders who are committed to creating safer, more inclusive environments for LGBTQIA+SB young people.
Together, our Board and Youth Action Council work alongside one another to guide the organisation, shape our priorities and ensure that young people remain at the centre of everything we do.
Youth Action Council
The Youth Action Council (YAC) is a group of LGBTQIA+SB young people and allies aged 26 and under who help shape the direction of Wear It Purple.
As the representative voice of the young people we support, the YAC plays a vital role in guiding our campaigns, programs, events and advocacy. Their ideas, experiences and leadership help ensure that Wear It Purple remains relevant, responsive and driven by young people.
YAC members:
Help develop and deliver Wear It Purple projects and initiatives
Contribute ideas and lead community campaigns and events
Work alongside the Board on advocacy and organisational priorities
Provide feedback and insight into the issues affecting LGBTQIA+SB young people today
The YAC meets every four weeks online, with meetings held on a rotating Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at 6:30 pm AEST/AEDT.
Interested in joining the YAC? If you are aged 26 or under and would like to help shape the future of Wear It Purple, we would love to hear from you. There will be a short chat to learn more about you, your interests and what being part of the YAC involves.
