Want to help create a brighter future for LGBTQIA+SB young people?

Wear It Purple’s Youth Action Council – aka the YAC – is a volunteer-led group of young people who bring fresh ideas, lived experience and plenty of passion to our work across Australia.

You don’t need to have everything figured out. You just need to be ready to speak up, get involved, and work with others.

What you’ll do

As a YAC member, you’ll:

• Join an online meeting every four weeks at 6:30pm AEST/AEDT

• Share your ideas, feedback and perspective

• Stay connected through the YAC group chat and project discussions

• Take part in at least three accessible activities or events each year

• Get involved in Wear It Purple Day

• Support other members’ projects

• Help lead an idea, campaign, event or collaboration each year

You might create content, help with social media, attend an event, support a community stall or bring Wear It Purple Day to your school, workplace or community.

What we ask from you

Bring your creativity, communicate with the team and participate when you can. You’ll also need to complete onboarding or training and stay up to date with key YAC information and guidelines.

Life happens

Study, work, family, health and other commitments can sometimes get in the way – and that’s okay.

We don’t expect perfection or for you to do everything. We simply ask that you keep us in the loop, stay involved where you can and bring your ideas, energy and lived experience.
